Welcome to our new interns!

The new group of HS4LC Routes to Employment interns 2019/20 officially started last week.

We welcomed the group of 7 new full time interns into the programme on Monday 9th September.

HS4LC offer three routes to employment for young adults with learning disabilities and autism. People with learning disabilities typically take longer to learn new tasks but with the right support they can overcome their  difficulties and have a better chance of gaining paid employment.

The Routes to Employment programme is aimed at giving young people the opportunity to develop their skills and get into sustainable paid employment. Alongside work placements interns are further developing their work skills through enterprise projects, employability and life skills workshops and participating in a fitness programme with our gym instructor. This programme is ran separate to the day centre timetable and activities.

The interns first full week with HS4LC has been fun filled. They have completed an array of activities including a welcome session and getting to know you and your peers sessions. They also took a tour of ESS Defence at The Army Foundation College which included getting to meet some of the Army recruits and watch some laser combat training. The interns also started their customer service workshop and training and took a visit to Costa Coffee in Harrogate town, and to bring the week to an end the new interns attended a tour around The Crowne Plaza hotel in Harrogate and also had a special visit to the business suite in the hotel followed by a beverage and some lovely cakes.

The feedback from the first week has been great...
