The official opening of the Briardene memory garden.

On Sunday 12th May the weather gave us a lucky break to officially launch the new garden at our Briardene care home.

The space was made possible by the amazing fund raising efforts of Paige Ruben, and the family and friends of the Late Dr. Richard King. We know this lasting tribute to Richard will be enjoyed and used by all the residents for many years to come.

On Sunday we had the chance to try it out as our new party space and to thank the people involved in helping our project come together including the family and friends of the late Dr. Richard King who raised the funds, Chris Hoggard the landscaper who executed our design perfectly and at cost, and his wife Chloe and her volunteers from Oracle who gave a big chunk of time and labour to create this amazing new garden.

Our friends at Horticap advised us on planting and created some amazing accessible and moveable planters.

HS4LC’s hard working tutor Ian Hinton baked us his delicious brownies and lemon cake to add to the feast and produce from our HS4LC allotment was incorporated by our talented tutor Becky Mears in her white chocolate and Rhubarb cake and savoury cheese and herb muffins.

Finally a huge thanks to the families, trustees, staff and clients who made our afternoon a celebration to remember as the launch of a fabulous new space and a legacy to a carer who touched the hearts of all our staff and clients.
