Our Lands End to John O' Groats virtual journey is well on its way now!
Our gym members have been working very hard to rack up those miles and have been adding up all the miles they do from swimming, walking, wheeling, running and rowing (on the treadmill and rowing machine). Everyone is really enjoying been part of this journey and watching the arrow move to a new destination week on week.
The journey log so far:
Week 1: We covered a total of 77 miles which took us from Lands’ End to St Agnus!
Week 2: We covered an additional 86 miles, making a total of 163 miles which took us to Newsport in South Wales.
Week 3: We added another 80 miles taking us to Warwick.
Week 4: This week we reached a total of 384 miles into our epic expedition bringing us to Kirkby Lonsdale.
Week 5: We racked up a whopping 110 miles this week taking us to Lockerbie.
Week 6: Our students hit a total of 526 virtual miles this week taking us to Edinburgh!
Only 348 virtual miles left to get to our final destination!
We chose to do this virtual journey to help raise awareness of the HS4LC Healthy Hearts Campaign that we launched at the end of last year. The HS4LC Healthy Hearts Campaign offers FREE and easy access to a fully equipped gym and instructor in a safe environment at the Harrogate Skills for Living Day Centre on North Park Road in Harrogate. We also opened this up to adults with learning disabilities in the local community and have been very happy with the uptake of people who have joined us.
HS4LC were able to renovate and open a gym in the day centre after they were awarded £2000 of funding through Harrogate Borough Council’s Small Grants Fund in 2017. The works were finished last year and we officially opened the HS4LC gym in October.
We do still have limited spaces available in our gym and fitness sessions, so if you would like further information or to book a trial session or a look around the gym, please feel free to give us a call on 01423 593719.
We will keep posting our journey updates on our social media pages!
