On you marks, get set, GO!

On March the 1st we officially started our virtual journey from Lands End to John O' Groats.

We chose to do this to help raise awareness of the HS4LC Healthy Hearts Campaign that we launched at the end of last year and to also raise some funds for new gym equipment,

HS4LC wanted to help and encourage the local learning disability community to increase the amount of physical activity they take part in!

The HS4LC Healthy Hearts Campaign offers FREE and easy access to a fully equipped gym and instructor in a safe environment at the Harrogate Skills for Living Day Centre on North Park Road in Harrogate.

We set off on our virtual journey on Friday the 1st of March and our students are racking up the miles in multiple ways to ensure everyone can be involved. This includes swimming, walking, wheeling, running and rowing (on the treadmill and rowing machine). Everyone is very excited to see the HS4LC bike move up the map and travel from one end of Great Britain to the other!

Week 1 update - We covered a total of 77 miles which took us from Lands’ End to St Agnus!

Land's End is a headland and holiday complex in western Cornwall, England. It is the most westerly point of mainland Cornwall and England.

70 miles in, on week one brings us to St. Agnus. Tucked into a stunning and unspoiled spot on the north Cornish coast, St. Agnes sits in both a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a World Heritage Site.

Week 2 update - We covered 86 miles this week!

Well done everyone!

With the total count now at a whopping 163 miles we have arrived in Newport in South Wales! Newport is a vibrant, multi-cultural city. It is the third largest city in Wales, with a population of 145,700.

This virtual journey from Lands End to John O Groats will be a challenging task for our clients but everyone who is involved is very enthusiastic and determined to be successful!

We will be racking up the miles by swimming, walking and on the rowing machine, treadmill and stepper in the HS4LC gym.

Working together we aim to cover an incredible 874 mile journey from one end of Great Britain to the other!

We will keep posting regular updates and photos on our blog and social media pages!
