Seven students who trained at HS4LC over two years were presented with their Level 1 diplomas in Personal Development & Employment skills by the Mayor of Harrogate Councillor Nick Brown.
These 7 students at Claro Enterprise in Starbeck worked extremely hard with HS4LC tutors Rebecca, Julia & Brett to complete their work.
The seven are Allan Mitchell, David Hodson, Tess Stanley, Margo Preston, Keith Ryder, Mark Wisson and Richard Hinson – well done to each one of you! It is a great achievement.
Claro Enterprise is a service to support adults with mental health challenges to gain confidence, learning and employment experience.
It operates as a commercial workshop, making goods for businesses, which enables those suffering with long term severe and enduring mental health problems to function in a voluntary real work supportive and supervised environment.
Through training and personal development, clients can improve their quality of life, confidence, independence, self-esteem and gain skills, which will enable them to look for, and hopefully achieve, meaningful employment.
The qualification itself contains units to address learners’ needs in several environments including literacy and numeracy, personal development areas such as emotional intelligence, road safety awareness or computer basics.
Learners gain an overview of key skills and areas of knowledge in order to inform further study and/or employment choices.
These skills centre around problem solving or time management and can lead on to further study such as retail skills, retail knowledge or apprenticeships.
