Harrogate Skills 4 Living Centre improving living standards for adults with learning difficulties and autism
The house is conveniently placed to enable residents and
helpers to visit the many attractions in the town centre, including
high street shops, cinemas, pubs, restaurants and transport links.
On entering Briardene you can’t help but feel at ease. Its warm, welcoming atmosphere and stunning original architecture makes it a lovely place to visit, however it’s the interaction of residents and staff who make it a home.
The committed staff team, many of which have worked in the home for over 10 years, work closely together to provide a “quality” service. The home is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, delivering individual support packages and personalised care.
Everyone in the house is encouraged to express themselves, share their opinions and have a say in the day to day activities.
We believe as a staff team that:
Our residents are at the centre of what we provide.
Residents have a right to live like anyone else in the community.
Services such as ours should recognise the individuality of adults with disabilities.
In our ‘Philosophies of Care’ we have written down the five main accomplishments that the service should seek to achieve for the people in our care.
Philosophies of Care:
Share places with other people – to go out into the community using the same facilities as others.
Have choices about their lives – from where to live, what to do, where to go, what to eat to what to wear.
Develop skills and competences at different things.
Be treated with respect and dignity.
Encouraged to maintain relationships with neighbours, friends, staff and families.
Briardene achieved a Care Quality Commission rating of Good following their
last inspection. Click the link here to view the report published on the 18 July 2018.
